2009 KHA Nigerian Sativa Reproduction is the seed that Khalifa Genetics sells under the name Nigerian Sativa. The company says that the line was once part of the seed collection of Afropips, whose own Nigerian line has its own accession, Nigerian 2009, and calls it "The Original Nigerian offered in Amsterdam Coffee shops in the 80’s".[1]

Sourcing

According to the company, collectors kept the line after the Afropips seedbank shut down around 2010, and Khalifa Genetics acquired it from them in 2020. It says that its first reproduction run showed a high proportion of hermaphrodites and that two more controlled open pollinations, three in all, much improved the line's sexual stability.[1] ACE Seeds, which stocks the line, labels its seed "Landrace Strain (P4) open pollinated indoors to increase the sexual stability".[2]

Cultivation Details

The company describes two main phenotypes: one fast-flowering (about 10 weeks), high-yielding and with fairly dense buds, the other flowering in 13 weeks with long sativa spears. It says that the line stands high humidity and flowers early enough to do well outdoors in most places, and that it grows in poor soil and is sensitive even to moderate nitrogen.[1]

Botanical Characteristics

The company says that the leaves can be broad early in the vegetative phase and grow narrower once the plants grow taller and flower.[1]

Aroma

The company describes a sweet, woody smell in almost all plants, some more hashy and musky, others more fruity.[1]

Effects

The company reports a clear, uplifting high that after about 45 minutes gives way to well-being and relaxation. It says that early or late harvest changes how uplifting the effect is, and that the flowers grow more potent over a few months of curing.[1]
