El Playón is a cannabis growing area in the department of Santander, in north-eastern Colombia, covering the municipality of El Playón, north of Bucaramanga on the western slopes of the Eastern Cordillera. To the north the municipality borders the Provincia de Ocaña growing area. The area belongs to the Cordillera Oriental (Colombia) growing region.
Eradication figures
About 14 hectares of marijuana were eradicated in El Playón between June 2012 and October 2018, in 10 entries of the Ministry of Defence's open data, seven of them in 2014. The largest entry is of 5.2 hectares. El Playón accounts for most of the marijuana eradicated in Santander in the data, about 20 hectares in all.[1]
