Arcadian General Population 2005 is a landrace cannabis accession collected around Mantineia in Arcadia, Greece, in 2005. The seed is held by Delicorganic, which supplied it to The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1][2]
Geography
RSC places Arcadia in the Peloponnese mountains and gives a latitude of about 37° N.[1]
Collection Details
Both listings give the sourcing as Delicorganic, Mantineia, Greece, 2005.[1][2] RSC states that the original seeds were collected around Mantineia in 2005, before modern hybrid strains were widespread in Greece and before any known impact of modern strains on provincial regions such as the rural Peloponnese.[1] Neither listing names a collector or farmer, and neither says where Delicorganic is based.[1][2]
RSC suggests that the accession may be representative of kannàvi, the drug-type cannabis grown on a large scale around Mantineia for more than 60 years; Kwik Seeds says that it appears to be representative.[1][2]
Derived material
The seed RSC sells comes from an open-pollination maintenance grow intended to preserve the full genetic diversity of the original accession, and is recorded at 2005 RSC Arcadian IBL.[1][3] RSC files that line among its heirlooms, a category it defines as inbred lines that have undergone generations of selective inbreeding in the West.[4]
