Chapramari is a landrace cannabis appellation in the Jalpaiguri Dooars growing area of The Dooars, in Jalpaiguri District, West Bengal, India. It covers the forest block that holds the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary. A survey in June 2025 collected seed from a feral population inside the sanctuary forest.[1]
Cultivation
The 2025 survey followed a gravelled service track into the sanctuary under a sal canopy. Near the road, on the margins of a seasonal stream, it found a feral population of scattered plants and loose clusters along about 300 m of disturbed understorey, with no sign of planting or recent human activity. The plants stood 1.5–2.5 m tall, with narrow leaflets and citrus aromas, and their seed was mature enough to collect.[1] The report took them for the same type as the plants it had met at Sipchu and in the Kalimpong range.[1]
