Nigerian 2009 is a seed accession of Nigerian, a cannabis line that Afropips listed among the pure African lines on its website by April 2009.[1] The business's description calls it "A 100% Pure Landrace Sativa Strain from deepest Africa" and says that it is the original Nigerian sold in the coffee shops of Amsterdam in the 1980s.[2] The name refers to Nigeria; no source names a place there.

History

Two of the business's hybrids of 2009 were made from the line. Its Nigerian 99, a cross with Cinderella 99, was "based on the short statured fast flowering Afropips Nigerian".[3] Its Nigerian Afghan was "based on the fast flowering pure short statured Nigerian (IBL)".[4] In December 2010 the shop on afropips.com sold ten seeds of a product named Nigerian for £35.[5]

ACE Seeds sells a Nigerian line under the name of Khalifa Genetics and says that it was once part of Afropips' seed collection. According to ACE, collectors kept the line after the Afropips seedbank shut down around 2010, and the Khalifa team obtained it from them in 2020.[6] Khalifa Genetics' seed of the line is recorded as KHA-NGA-UNK-0120090001.

Cultivation Details

The description lists a flowering period of 9 to 11 weeks and a harvest in November. It calls the line a fairly fast sativa, suited to growing outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere, and says that plants grown indoors stay short and carry plenty of bud.[2]

Aroma

According to the business, cured buds have "a lemon tea aroma" and the smoke tastes much like hashish.[2]
