Evidentiary scope

The catalogue gives a collector, a number, a date and a locality. It is a single gathering and shows neither a continuing population nor a living germplasm holding, so it supports neither a landrace nor a feral classification. The accession is classified Other. No conservation priority is assigned.

The Botanical Database of Southern Africa publishes no image of this sheet. Its image count is zero, and so is the image count of all 1,361,966 rows in the database: the store is empty, and SANBI's own site still lists plant images among its plans. The accession carries no image until the herbarium supplies a scan.

Georeferencing

BODATSA records the coordinate's accuracy as 1000m, which marks a field reading. The square code 2930DD is carried alongside it in the database.

Editorial treatment

The KwaZulu-Natal Herbarium publishes no per-specimen page. Five permalink shapes were tried for a sheet of this batch and all answered 404, so the accession cites the database itself and the barcode identifies the sheet.

The Delaware image is published under CC BY-NC 4.0, which is not a free licence, so it is not uploaded. The label was read from it for this accession.

The grid reference on the label, 2930DD, is the same quarter-degree square BODATSA stores for the entry. This is the batch's clearest case of a South African label carrying its own quarter-degree code.

Source discrepancies

Durban gives the altitude as 82 m and the Delaware label as about 27 ft, which is about 8 m. The two are not reconcilable and the accession carries the catalogue's figure, with the label's recorded here.

The Delaware catalogue's silence is not evidence of a thin sheet. It is a transcription that was never done.
