Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The page rests on forum accounts by members of the collective: Roms on Overgrow (2023 to 2026) and on International Cannagraphic Magazine (2018), Rahan's report as Roms reposted it, Mustafunk (2020) and jahgreenlabel (2011). No document from the time of collection survives. Roms's opening Overgrow post, the source of the Martinique and "early 2000" details, was created on 6 February 2023 and last edited on 7 September 2026; Overgrow does not show its edit history, so the wording cited is the wording read on 18 September 2026. Georeferencing
No point is given. The accounts name Kingston and Trenchtown as Bushman's community and Martinique as the place the seed changed hands; none gives a place where the population was grown. province and locality are left empty. Éloise 22:05, 12 October 2026 (+07)
Editorial treatment
- Accession ID.
VIB-JAM-UNK-0100000001:VIB;JAM, from the accounts that tie the line to Jamaica (Roms 2018 and 2023, Rahan);UNK, no administrative place being given for the population;01;0000;0001. The year digits are0000because the stated years (1960, 1968, the 1970s, early 2000, and "wasn’t really collected yet" in 2002) contradict one another, and choosing one would decide between them. - Country. Jamaica is entered, not Martinique: Martinique is where one account places the hand-over, not where the population grew.
- Lineage. The collection and its two reproductions are separate accessions. The reproductions take
-R1and-R2because the same holder code covers both the collection and the grow-outs. Their traits (flowering time, hermaphrodites, aroma) are on their own pages. Éloise 22:05, 12 October 2026 (+07)
Source discrepancies
- Who supplied the seed. Roms (2018): from Bushman of the Trenchtown community in Kingston. Roms (2023): "Dan collected with the singer Bushman on a backstage concert in Martinique". Rahan: "gifted to our small collective last year … straight from rasta communities in the Carribean".
- When. jahgreenlabel (2011): "jamaican lambsbread line 1960". Rahan: "tracked back to the 70’s in Jamaica". Roms (2023): "early 2000". Roms (2024): in 2002 the line "wasn’t really collected yet". Roms (2026): "The 1960 or '68 denomination". Éloise 22:05, 12 October 2026 (+07)
Related seed not documented as accessions
- Swami Organic Seed. Its "1960's Vibes Collective Lambsbread Heirloom" is a seller's listing, not seed the collective holds; jahgreenlabel has questioned it. It is described on Vibes Collective and not entered here as an accession.
- Crosses. Double Jam (Jamaican Lambsbread × Jamaican Blue Mountain) and the Kwik Seeds cross of a Dominican landrace onto it are hybrids sold by others, not landrace accessions of this line.
- Upstate's reproduction. The Freakers Ball Seed Co-op grow-out, from OvergrowDaWorld's F5, is held by Upstate, not by the collective, and is not entered here. Éloise 22:05, 12 October 2026 (+07)
