Identifier

The accession identifier is RSC-TUR-UNK-0120190001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Province segment UNK. The sources do not name a place in Turkey.
  • Year 2019 is the year of the listing's earliest archived version, August 2019; the sources do not date the collection or the grows. The month digits are 01.
  • Sequence 0001. It is the only RSC accession for Turkey.

Sourcing

The RSC listing for Turkish as it stood on 27 October 2026 and its 22 versions in the Wayback Machine from August 2019 to May 2026; the Kwik Seeds listing as it stood on 26 October 2026; and the GRIN-Global entry for G 33768. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose).

Lots at this listing

All 22 archived versions give the sourcing "Obtained via collector community", and none dates a harvest or a grow, so the seed sold under the listing since 2019 is kept on one page. A later generation that a source dates would be a separate accession. RSC's free seed of July 2026, "an unknown hemp variety from a Turkish source", is a different line and is not this accession.

Evidentiary scope

The sources do not name the place in Turkey where the seed was first gathered, the collector, the Spanish group or how many generations have been grown since. "Alleged" is the donor's word, and RSC's own earliest version said that the precise origin was not yet known.

Typing

  • Classification: Unknown: seed of untraced origin, which came through a breeding group working the line for CBD.
  • Accession type: Reproduction, autochtonous No: the donor's note says the line was bred by a Spanish group and maintained since.
  • Parent accession, collector and collection date are left empty: the sources do not name them.
  • Country: Turkey, from the listing and the donor's note. No place within Turkey is named.
  • Purpose and processing. "Hashish (sieved resin) or bud" is entered as purpose Recreation and processing Dry-sift, with the bud in the notes.
  • Leaf shape is left empty: only the Kwik Seeds listing describes the leaflets, as narrow to medium.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day follows the other RSC accessions. Introgression Unknown, as for a line of untraced origin.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The page is a reproduction, and the sources do not say where in Turkey the original seed came from. The donor's point on the USDA entry G 33768, 37.9100, 40.2400, added in September 2026, lies in Hasırlı Mahallesi, Sur, in the city of Diyarbakır (OpenStreetMap relation 5511567), 0.8 km from the city's node (26487666); the sources do not say what it marks, and it is not used.

Source discrepancies

  • Origin. RSC in August 2019: "a short, fast-flowering drug landrace collected in Turkey", its precise origin "not yet known". Donor's note on G 33768: "an alleged Turkish line", which "Came to via a Spanish group that was breeding the line for CBD".
  • Photographs. RSC in November 2024: "plants from this accession at 40° N in mid July". RSC since February 2025: "at 43° N in mid-July".
  • Genetics line. RSC: "Turkish Cannabis Landrace / Heirloom". Kwik Seeds: "Turkish Domesticate ("Landrace")". RSC in August 2019: "Turkish Landrace".

Photographs

The infobox image and the gallery image are from the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The infobox image is one of three photographs of plants beside a measuring pole, on the listing since November 2024, which it describes as field photographs of plants from this accession in mid-July; the latitude it gives changed from 40° N to 43° N in February 2025, so the caption gives neither. The gallery image has been on the listing since September 2021, without a caption, and shows tall flowering plants outdoors. Both show plants grown from the seed RSC sells. The person holding the pole is not identified and is out of frame above the shoulders. The listing's version of August 2019 captioned photographs, now gone, "Seeded Turkish strain" and "cannabis field in Turkey"; the Kwik Seeds listing's drawing of a seventeenth-century dervish is not used.

USDA genebank accession

The U.S. National Plant Germplasm System holds Turkish seed as G 33768 (GRIN-Global entry), received on 22 August 2023 in a donation of two packets from Angus. The infobox lists it as the same lot as this accession:

  • the donor's note describes the seed RSC sells: an alleged Turkish line, which came through a Spanish group breeding it for CBD;
  • the listing sold the line before the donation and after it, and RSC lists no other Turkish drug line.

The entry's point is discussed above. Curators' notes from the unit's 2024 field trial in New York report the sex of the plants grown and their likely susceptibility to powdery mildew; the article does not report them.
