Identifier

The accession identifier is RSC-SYR-UNK-0120190001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Province segment UNK. The sources do not name a place in Syria.
  • Year 2019 is the year of the listing's earliest archived version, August 2019; the sources do not date the reproduction, the maintenance grow or the original collection. The month digits are 01.
  • Sequence 0001. It is the only RSC accession for Syria.

Sourcing

The RSC listing for Syrian as it stood on 27 October 2026 and its 26 versions in the Wayback Machine from August 2019 to March 2026; the Kwik Seeds listing as it stood on 26 October 2026; RSC's posts of 28 July 2022, 27 June 2024 and 15 August 2025; and the GRIN-Global entry for G 33898. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose).

Lots at this listing

All 26 archived versions give the sourcing "Obtained from collectors via gene bank". The versions from August 2019 to October 2024 (19) say that a breeder made a reproduction run; those from February 2025 (seven) speak of an ex situ maintenance grow. The listing does not say whether the second note describes a new generation or the same seed in other words, and the sources do not date either grow, so the seed sold under the listing since 2019 is kept on one page. A later generation that a source dates would be a separate accession.

Evidentiary scope

RSC's account is the only one of where the seed came from. The sources do not name the genebank, its accession number, the collector, the breeder, where the reproduction and the maintenance grow were made, or when the seed was first collected in Syria.

Typing

  • Classification: Unknown. The original collection is not documented: the sources say only that the seed reached RSC from a European genebank through a collector.
  • Accession type: Reproduction, autochtonous No: the listing calls the seed the product of a reproduction run and of an ex situ maintenance grow.
  • Parent accession is left empty: the sources do not name the genebank lot.
  • Collector and collection date are left empty. The listing says RSC did not obtain the seed in Syria; the USDA entry's passport (below) names the donor as collector.
  • Country: Syria, from the listing. No place within Syria is named.
  • Purpose and processing. "Hashish (sieved resin)" is entered as purpose Recreation and processing Dry-sift.
  • Branching. Strong, from the listing's "heavily branching much like a classic Indica".
  • Traits are the current listing's; the Kwik Seeds listing's two variants are in the article.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day follows the other RSC accessions; the listing calls the line semi-autoflowering. Introgression Unknown, as for a line of untraced origin.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The page is a reproduction, and nothing below the country is named: the sources do not say where in Syria the original seed was gathered.

Source discrepancies

  • Origin of the seed. RSC until October 2024 and Kwik Seeds: "a reproduction run was made by a breeder". RSC since February 2025: "from an ex-situ maintenance grow … came via a collector who obtained the seeds from a European genebank".
  • Collector. The USDA entry's passport for G 33898: "Collected by Angus Pretty". The listing: "not obtained by The Real Seed Company directly from Syria".
  • Plant types. RSC: "Indica morphology". Kwik Seeds and RSC in 2019: "Indica and Sativa types", with two variants of 0.6 – 0.9 and 1.2 – 1.5 metres.
  • Genetics line. RSC: "Syrian Cannabis Landrace". Kwik Seeds: "Syrian Domesticate ("Landrace")". RSC in August 2019: "Pure Syrian Landrace".

Photographs

The infobox image and the gallery are from the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The listing now captions none of its photographs. The two plant photographs used have been on it since August 2020. The male plant has been on it since July 2024, and RSC's post of 27 June 2024 shows the same photograph as "a great male from our Syrian landrace – found by Biointensive Cannabis"; the caption follows that post. The listing's version of August 2019 captioned other photographs, now gone, "Syrian strain indoors" and "Syrian strain outdoors". A resin close-up added in September 2021 and five photographs added in September 2024, which carry no statement of what they show, are not used. All the photographs show plants grown from the seed RSC sells, so they are on this page.

USDA genebank accession

The U.S. National Plant Germplasm System holds Syrian seed as G 33898 (GRIN-Global entry), received on 27 August 2024 in a donation of one packet from Angus. The infobox lists it as the same lot as this accession:

  • the entry is named Syrian, the listing's title, and its donor's note of September 2026 describes a hashish line, as the listing does;
  • the listing sold the line in July and September 2024, before and after the donation, and RSC lists no other Syrian line.

The entry's passport records the seed as collected in Syria by the donor before 2024, which the listing contradicts; the article follows the listing.
