Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Manipuri, RSC's Tropical India category page and four RSC blog posts (July 2019, June 2023, October 2024 and June 2025). Kwik Seeds does not list the line now; its listing of October 2019 (Wayback Machine) described the earlier 2015 collection. The listing dates this collection to 2020 and gives the place as Imphal, Manipur; it names no village and no farmer. The account of Meitei cultivation and of the pedigree of Manipuri ganja is RSC's and has not been checked against other sources; the article attributes it. RSC's June 2023 post describes the best accession it obtained from Manipur without naming it, so this page does not identify the two. The line is out of stock on RSC as read on 17 September 2026. Georeferencing

The sourcing line names Imphal and the listing gives a latitude of about 25° N. The coordinate is the city of Imphal in OpenStreetMap (node 569040820), rounded to two decimal places: 24.80, 93.94. OpenStreetMap places the node in Lamphelpat, Imphal West district. The point marks the place the sourcing line names, not a collection site, and the district is not entered, because the city lies across the Imphal West and Imphal East districts. Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-IND-MAN-0120200001 takes MAN from Manipur, entered without a suffix as Indian states are. The month digits are 01.
• Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself.
• Height. 2 to 5 m, the fuller range, from the versions of August 2020 to January 2023, which describe this collection. The current listing gives up to 4 m.
• Harvest. December to February, the fuller range, from the same versions; the prose gives the listing's December to January for the fields and the end of November for early plants.
• Local name. Not entered: chakhao is the Meitei name for a variety of rice and for the purple type of plant, not for this landrace, so it is given in the prose.
• Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type architecture" is entered as growth pattern Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001. "Semi-drying, binding in cloth, drying and curing" is entered as processing notes.
• Conservation priority. Medium: RSC describes the Imphal Valley as a historic ganja-growing region cultivated by Meitei households, which is a moderate population with several cultivators, and its 2023 post describes more than one Manipuri source. Source discrepancies

Kwik Seeds does not carry the line, so there is no second listing to compare. Its archived listing of 18 October 2019 gave the sourcing as "personally collected at source in Manipur, Northeast India, 2015", with a height of 2 to 4 metres and the harvest as December to early January; that is the earlier collection and is not used. The Wayback Machine holds 19 versions of the RSC listing, from September 2019 to April 2026, and all were read. The listing has sold two collections under the same address, and every version from August 2020 describes this one:

• Sourcing. "Personally collected at source in Manipur, Northeast India, 2015" in September and November 2019; "Imphal, Manipur, Northeast India, 2020" from August 2020, written "(2020)" from January 2026.
• Height. "2 – 5 metres" from August 2020 to January 2023, "2 – 4 metres" from June 2023 to June 2024 and "Up to 4 metres" from January 2025. The article cites the versions of 5 August 2020 and 30 January 2023.
• Regional harvest. "December to February" from August 2020 to January 2023, "Approx. 6 months" from June 2023 and "Approx. 5 to 6 months" from January 2025.
• Classification. "C. sativa subsp. indica var. indica" from August 2020 to October 2025, and absent from January 2026. The article cites the versions of 5 August 2020 and 8 October 2025.
• Chakhao. Spelt "chahao" and glossed as black rice until October 2025; spelt "chakhao" and glossed as a variety of black aromatic sticky rice from January 2026.
• Other wording. A two-for-one offer stood from August 2020 to May 2022. The note that classic Tai and Lao strains are typically superior first appears in October 2022.

Photographs

The infobox image and the gallery are the five photographs on the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The current listing gives them no captions. The September and November 2019 versions (Wayback Machine) captioned two of them, while the listing sold the 2015 collection: the purple plant as a fast-flowering purple variant outdoors in late November, and the large plant beside a fence as a Manipuri landrace outdoors in the Imphal Valley. Both captions are used, attributed to the listing and dated 2019, because they are the source's own words for photographs the current listing leaves uncaptioned. The second photograph shows a plant in a garden behind a timber fence, beside a house with a shingled roof and a gutter, with a drip line on the ground, which reads as a tended garden rather than a field; the caption is attributed rather than stated in the wiki's voice. RSC's file names carry place words of their own, Imphal for that photograph, Oregon for the purple plant and France for the three night photographs, which are dated to December; a file name is not a caption, so the article reads no location out of them.
