Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Kalamata Red, the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line and RSC's blog post "Greek Heirlooms – A Wise Choice for Northern Latitudes" (May 2024). Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings say the line came from a farming family in the Kalamata region through Delicorganic in 2004 and has since been maintained and selected ex situ. They name no village and say the village is abandoned. The origin theories and the history of the brand are RSC's; they have not been checked against other sources, and the article attributes them. Georeferencing

The listings name Kalamata and the "Kalamata region"; RSC's sourcing line reads "near Messinia, Kalamata", and the listing gives a latitude of 37° N. The coordinate is Kalamata in OpenStreetMap (node 193699922), rounded to two decimal places: 37.04, 22.11. OpenStreetMap places the city in the Municipality of Kalamata, Messenia Regional Unit (relation 959149), which is entered as the province. Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-GRC-MES-0120040001 takes MES from Messenia, the regional unit (the former prefecture), as Cretan and Arcadian take RET and ARC. The month digits are 01.
• Province. Messenia, the English form, without a suffix, as the regional units Rethymno and Arcadia are entered; the listing writes "Messinia".
• Name and type. Kalamata Red 2004 IBL, with classification Landrace IBL, accession type Reproduction and sourcing type Multi-generation reproduction, as on the Cretan and Arcadian heirlooms.
• Selection. "Several selected mothers and a choice 'alpha male'" is entered as selection type Multiple plants and pollination type Controlled pollination.
• Collector. Left blank: the listings name the supplier, Delicorganic.
• Chemotype. THC-dominant, from RSC's May 2024 post, which describes Greek heirlooms such as Kalamata Red as "across the board THC-dominant". No test figure is given.
• Purposes. "Hashish or bud" is entered as purpose Recreation and processing method Ganja, as on Cretan; the listings do not say how the hashish is made.

• Photoperiod. RSC's August 2025 post calls several varieties in its Near East collection semi-autoflowering, but it does not name Kalamata Red, and Kwik Seeds does not file the line under Auto & Semi-Auto, so the convention is kept.
• Not entered. Leaf colour, because the red and light-green phenotypes are not described as leaf colours.
• Links. Kalamata is linked as a place. Delicorganic, Phylos, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean are left unlinked, as in earlier batches.

Conservation priority

Critical. The listings say the seed was collected from farmers in one village in the Kalamata region, that the line had been cultivated there for more than 30 years, that cultivation ceased under enforcement pressure and that the village is now abandoned. RSC prices the seed on "their rarity". That is a single village population which no longer exists in situ. The other heirloom lines on the wiki (Arcadian, Beldia and Congolese) are rated Low. Source discrepancies

• Sourcing. RSC: "Delicorganic, near Messinia, Kalamata, Greece (2004)". Kwik Seeds: "Delicorganic, Kalamata, Greece (2004)". No archived RSC version has the Kwik Seeds form.
• Genetics line. RSC: "Greek Cannabis Heirloom". Kwik Seeds: "Greek Heirloom, ‘Kalamata Red’", RSC's line until January 2023.
• Harvest. RSC: "Late October". Kwik Seeds: "October". RSC gave "October to early November" until January 2023.
• Height. RSC: "Approx. 1 – 4 metres". Kwik Seeds: "3 – 4.5 metres", RSC's figure in June and December 2023.
• Phenotypes. RSC: "Other phenotypes are light green". Kwik Seeds: "light green to gold".
• Only on RSC. The possible influence of tropical landraces introduced in the 1970s.
• Wording. The listings tell the rest in slightly different words, with the same content.

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds 19 versions of the RSC listing, from October 2020 to April 2026, and all were read. All give the same sourcing line and the note that the seeds were produced from the 2019 generation.

• Height. "4 – 6 metres" from October 2020 to January 2023, "3 – 4.5 metres" in June and December 2023, "3 – 6 metres" in May 2024 and "Approx. 1 – 4 metres" from September 2024. The article cites the versions of 29 October 2020, 30 January 2023 and 25 May 2024.
• Harvest. "October to early November" from October 2020 to January 2023, "Late October" from June 2023.
• Selection. The sentence on selecting less stretchy plants with a shorter flowering period, and the note on tropical landraces, first appear in June 2023. The listing does not say whether the height figures changed with the selection.
• Other wording. "15 years ago" has stood in the listing since the first archived version, of October 2020.

Photographs

The infobox image and the five gallery images come from the two listings and were uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. Neither listing captions them, so the captions say only what each image shows. One RSC photograph of a flower top carries a printed date stamp reading 19/10/2015; its caption does not repeat it. The dried flower and the seed come from the Kwik Seeds listing, which shows the nine photographs the October 2020 RSC listing showed. RSC masked the face of the person in the field photograph. Source collection

The line came from a farming family in the Kalamata region through Delicorganic in 2004. That collection is now Kalamata Red General Population 2004, under the holder code DEL, and this page names it as its parent.

This page keeps the article and the account of the selections RSC has made, including the seed produced from several selected mothers and a choice "alpha male" from the 2019 generation.

Two fields moved. The coordinates went with the collection, so the population holds one point on the map. Cultivation status Inactive also went with it: RSC records that cultivation in the family's village ended under enforcement pressure and the village is now abandoned, which describes the source population and not the line RSC grows. Descriptive name

The descriptive name now leads with the year and the holder's acronym: 2004 RSC Kalamata Red IBL, where it read Kalamata Red 2004 IBL. Éloïse ruled on 17 September 2026 that a reproduction's descriptive name should carry the year first and name the reproducer, and it is applied to every reproduction in this corpus.

The acronym is the holder's, the same code the accession ID carries. It does not assert who conducted the grow-out: these listings name nobody, and the rule was given for a line whose reproducer the listing does not state either.
