Sources
- Henman (fieldwork in the early 1970s; 2019 edition of a 1978 work, in Spanish translation) for Cauca.
- Herrera Fernández (magazine Guajira, reprinted by Cervantes Angulo, 1980, p. 304) for the coast.
- The police characterisation is cited through Cruz Olivera and Pereira Arana (2021, pp. 86–87), whose table credits Ciena (2017).
- VICE (2013) travelled with the Green House Seed Company: the seller and the report count as one witness.
Where the sources differ
- Three regions. Henman and the police tie the name to Cauca; Herrera Fernández, Semana and the 2013 expedition to the coast and the Sierra Nevada; one of Britto's informants to the Andean coffee region in the 1960s. None of them says whether one plant is meant.
- A grade. Cervantes Angulo and Betancourt and García put "Red Point" and Santa Marta Gold together as grade A; Henman and Herrera Fernández keep them apart.
- The hypothesis that mango viche and punto rojo may be one plant harvested at different stages is Henman's own; it is attributed.

Other reports

- A Green House grower's remark on "the red in the hairs" as the mark of Punta Roja is a seller's claim; not used.
- A forum statement that Ace Seeds' Panama Red "is really Punto Rojo" is hearsay; not used.
