Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The labels place cannabis between Askiz and Abakansk in the Minusinsk district in June 1914. They give no habitat, no use and no note on cultivation. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.

Label reading

Read twice, independently, from the holder's image (4912 × 7360 pixels). The second sheet is O-V-2164532 (4912 × 7360 pixels). The two labels are word for word the same.

  • Printed. Plantae in Asia interiore / anno 1914 lectae / Sibiria: / H. Printz.
  • By hand. Cannabis sativa L. / Guv. Jeniseisk, distr. / Minusinsk, Askys - Abakansk. / Juni 1914.
  • Empty labels. Each sheet has a printed Herb. Univers. Osloensis label with nothing written on it (on O-V-2164532 with the printed year 1961).

Georeferencing

No point is given. The labels name a stretch of road, Askys - Abakansk, from Askiz (the old village of that name, OpenStreetMap node 1067034190) to Abakansk, which the English Wikipedia gives as another name of the Abakan fort built in 1675 at the mouth of the Abakan, where the village of Ust-Abakanskoye grew up and the city of Abakan now stands (node 1588233141). The two places lie 89 km apart, and nothing on the labels says where between them, or at either end, the plants were gathered; a point between them would describe the road, not the gathering. The labels' Minusinsk district is the uezd of the Yeniseysk governorate, a historical unit and not one of today's districts, so it gives no area point either. Both places, and the country between them, lie in today's Khakassia, which the province field takes.

Editorial treatment

Two sheets, one accession. The two labels are identical, with the same collector, place and month, and neither has a number or a day, so nothing on them tells two gatherings apart. They are treated as one accession, as duplicates distributed under one label usually are; if a field book or a number later separates them, the second sheet becomes its own accession. O-V-2164530 is the infobox image and the first catalogue entry; both are shown under Sheets.

Title. The labels name two places and the country between them, so the title takes the district, Minusinsk.

Collector. The collector and determiner fields take the catalogue's H. Printz. The catalogue links him to a Wikidata item (Q21313999); no source read for this page gives more, and he is not linked.
