Quantities

The article's headline says "over 73 kg" and its body gives the two raids separately: "37 kilograms and 860 grams" and "35 kilograms and 210 grams". The 73.07 kg total in the summary is the sum. The cannabis is described as dried, not growing, so no plant or hectare figure is stored.

The two raids are recorded as one news item because the article reports them as a single operation by the same unit on the same evening.

Place

The article places the raids in the Gemunupura area of Thanamalwila and says the two men live in the Kuda Oya area, which is not the place of the raids. Several hamlets in Sri Lanka are called Gemunupura, including one in Monaragala District outside Thanamalwila, so the article's wording is followed and the district is worked out from Thanamalwila.

Map pin

The pin is Wikidata's point for the Thanamalvila Divisional Secretariat (Q7710109), rounded to two decimals, and marks the division, not the raid sites. Gemunupura has no entry in the gazetteers that can be placed within the division.

These notes were recorded when the news item was prepared. Éloise 21:01, 15 October 2026 (+07)
