Dating

L'Express DZ gives no date for the ambush or the arrests. It says the communiqué was released on Tuesday ("a indiqué, mardi, un communiqué"), and the article was published on Tuesday 15 September 2026. The stored date is that of the communiqué. An earlier Horizons report of the 75 kg seizure (article), listed on 14 September 2026, could not be consulted. If that listing is right, the communiqué was out by Monday 14 September and the operation took place on or before that day.

Source discrepancies

Two reports of 13 September 2026 describe a customs operation in Tlemcen with army units of the 2nd Military Region, an ambush, one vehicle and three arrests, but give different figures. Ici l'info (article) reports "la saisie de 45,5 kg de kif traité, d’un fusil à pompe et de 30 cartouches, ainsi que d’un véhicule". Awras (article) gives the same 45.5 kg, a pump-action shotgun and 30 rounds, citing the Tlemcen regional directorate of customs on Sunday 13 September. L'Express DZ reports 75 kg and no weapon. No report read gives the date of the operation or explains the difference in weight, and none says whether one or two operations are meant. This news item follows L'Express DZ.

Sources not used

L'Echo d'Algérie (article of 16 September 2026) carries the same text as L'Express DZ without the day of the communiqué. It is not used. A communiqué from the Directorate General of Customs on this seizure was not found.

Map pin

The report places the ambush only in the wilaya of Tlemcen. The pin is the point for the city of Tlemcen, the province's seat, and not the place of the seizure.
