Identifier
The accession identifier is NPG-NPL-KAR-0020210002, built to the grammar in the project's naming reference: holder NPG (the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System), ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month and year of collection, sequence. The source gives the year of collection but no month, so the month is 00. The sequence counts this holder's accessions with the same country, province and date. The genebank's own number is G 33718.
Sourcing
Everything on this page comes from the GRIN-Global entry, as it stood on 27 October 2026: the passport data, the source history and the donor's narrative. The narrative is the donor's own account of the seed, edited lightly by the curator. GRIN's collector field names Angus on every accession of this donation, including those whose narratives name someone else or nobody, so it is not used here. The narrative's "Collected by Angus Pretty" is the basis for the collector field. The entry says the accession was, or was attempted to be, included in the 2024 genome sequencing and phenotyping trial run by the USDA Agricultural Research Service with HudsonAlpha. It also carries the curator's notes and trial measurements from field trials in the United States. The article does not report them: they describe plants grown in those trials, not the population where the seed was gathered.
Classification
The infobox gives the classification as feral, for plants the note describes as weedy, self-sown plants harvested by villagers. The passport's improvement status is landrace.
Other accessions
The donor's Jumla lot (G 33717) was gathered the same winter from a farmer's fields near the same town; it has its own accession here, NPG-NPL-KAR-0020210001. The wiki's Humla Jungli lot of The Real Seed Company is from a different district.
Georeferencing
The point 29.2854, 82.1782 is the one the entry publishes for this lot; the donor added it in September 2026. OpenStreetMap places it in ward 4 of Chandannath, the municipality of Jumla town, Karnali Province (relation 16075856). That agrees with the narrative's village outside the town, though the entry gives the same point for the Jumla lot, so it is not the village itself. Basis: holder's georeference. Uncertainty: not stated by the genebank.
