Evidentiary scope

The printed field label gives the locality as Yangambi, banc de sable Booke (Yangambi, Booke sandbank), an altitude of about 470 m and the date 5 September 1939. It describes the vegetation as an Echinochloetum one year old and dry for two months, a stand of grasses of the genus Echinochloa on seasonally exposed sand, and records the vernacular name Bangi. The botanical name on the label is Cf. Cannabis sativa L., which the page reads as a provisional determination, and the observations read Plant filé. Herbier stérile. (a drawn plant; a sterile specimen), so no flowers or fruit were available to settle it. With the identity open, the sandbank habitat is not taken as a record of where cannabis grew, and nothing shows whether the plant was cultivated, grew wild or had escaped. The accession is classified Unknown. It records no preparation and no use, and it shows no continuing population and no living germplasm holding. No conservation priority is assigned.

The sandbank is not mapped, and a river sandbank is a shifting feature, so the gathering is placed no more precisely than the town it is named from. The housing mapped around the node reaches 2.3 km from it in one spread, the river and its nearest island (OpenStreetMap way 23558389) lie within 1.3 km, and 1 km is added for the rounding of the point. The 30-metre SRTM model gives about 430 m at the node, some 35 m below the label's 470 m. An earlier version of this note carried the node's own figures, 0.76583, 24.47336, for the town.
