Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The label's roadside habitat directly documents a ruderal plant and supports the Feral classification. It does not determine whether the population descended from cultivation or represented a longer-established local population. Small and Cronquist's placement of the specimen in a variety they associated with indigenous, weedy and naturalized plants is consistent with the classification but does not distinguish those histories for this gathering. The sheet does not establish a named cultivated variety, population continuity, a landrace, or a living germplasm holding. No conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The label is headed Flora of Punjab, and the specimen databases place Keshapur in Punjab. The historical locality has not been securely mapped to a present-day state or district, so those fields and the coordinate remain blank. The label gives the altitude as ca 1000 without a unit. It is read as feet and converted to approximately 305 m for the infobox.

Editorial treatment

The field label describes the flowers only as green and does not state the plant's sex; earlier revisions of the article called them staminate. Its special-notes line carries a very faint pencil entry that may read plant odoriferous; the reading is too uncertain to quote in the article. The pencil note teratological flowers! on the sheet is initialled, but the initials are hard to read, so the article does not attribute it.

Sequence data

The infobox lists BioSample SAMEA112688680 as the same lot as this accession because the tissue was taken from this sheet:

  • its specimen_voucher attribute is NY:1414440, the catalogue number of this sheet at the New York Botanical Garden;
  • its occurrence_id attribute, 009b637a-9a56-4246-bd75-e29d30d393d7, is the occurrence identifier GBIF publishes for that sheet;
  • its ref_biomaterial link is the holder's own page for the sheet (http://sweetgum.nybg.org/science/vh/specimen_details.php?irn=2045236);
  • its collector and date (W. N. Koelz, collector_number 1666, 1931-03-07) are the sheet's;
  • its source_material_description reads Leaflets removed from original specimen voucher.

The runs ERR10949898, ERR10950023 listed with it are that sample's sequencing reads (SRA runinfo: BioSample SAMEA112688680).

The article reports what the archive's entries say about the sampling and the sequencing, and no analysis of the data. Éloise 04:30, 5 October 2026 (+07)
