Name and border
The name describes the area: the Dooars part of Jalpaiguri District. No single administrative unit covers it. It spans Malbazar subdivision (the Mal, Matiali and Nagrakata blocks), Dhupguri subdivision (the Dhupguri and Banarhat blocks) and the Maynaguri block of Jalpaiguri Sadar subdivision.
The border is the OpenStreetMap outline of those blocks (relations 10361969, 10361972, 10361973, 10361974 and 10361975; OpenStreetMap's Dhupguri includes Banarhat), clipped at the Eastern Himalayas region along the hill foot, about 2,240 km². Before October 2026 these blocks were divided between the Maynaguri area of North Bengal Plains and the Dalingkot Duar, Chamurchi-Laxmi Duar, Gorumara and Chapramari areas of The Dooars; those are now its appellations.
