Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The accession rests on four herbarium vouchers of plants grown in a growth chamber from seed whose catalogue entries name Baruunburen sum in Selenge aimag, Mongolia, and the month September 2018. They show that seed catalogued under that name was grown to flowering; they do not show who collected the seed, where within the sum, from what kind of plant, or how it reached the chamber. No surviving seed of the lot has been traced. The page therefore carries no coordinates, classification or conservation priority.
Identifier
The identifier IBB-MNG-SEL-0920180001 follows the wiki's seed-accession grammar: holder, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month, year, sequence.
IBBstands for the Institut Botànic de Barcelona, whose herbarium holds the vouchers. The catalogue does not say where the chamber is.MNGis the ISO code for Mongolia (the Olympic code, MGL, is not used).SELis the first three letters of Selenge, the aimag of the sum the catalogue names.- Month and year 09 2018 are the catalogue's date for the collection of the seed. The vouchers are dated December 2021.
0001is the first of the lot's series. The other two Mongolian lots of the same dated series, IBB-MNG-KHE-0920180001 and IBB-MNG-SUK-0920180001, have their own province segments.
Lineage
The accession is a reproduction with no parent: the catalogue gives no collection of the seed, so the lot heads its own chain and the sourcing type is Unknown provenance. The lot name Mongolia 9 is the catalogue's; nothing read for this page says what the number counts.
Label reading
No sheet has been seen. The catalogue publishes no image of any voucher of the lot, and the text used is the catalogue's, read through GBIF on 11 October 2026.
- The remarks field of each entry reads, for example, C03P03I12 (Mongolia 9), Male, cultivated in growth chamber in controled conditions, Seeds collected September 2018.
- The collector field reads M. Balant & A. Papamichail. It names the people credited with the vouchers; the catalogue does not say whether they collected the seed.
- The habitat field reads CULTIVADO. The voucher code in the remarks (for example C03P03I12) is reproduced and not interpreted.
Georeferencing
The country field gives the recorded seed origin, Mongolia, and the sum and aimag follow the catalogue's locality (Baruunburen sum), which an OpenStreetMap reverse lookup of the catalogue's point places in Baruunburen sum, Selenge aimag. No coordinate is given and the map is off: the catalogue's point is published against plants grown in a chamber, it is the same for every voucher of the lot, and the catalogue gives no account of the place the seed was gathered, so a pin would present a sum-level point as a seed-collection site. The catalogue gives no place for the chamber.
Editorial treatment
Dates. The collection date is the catalogue's month for the seed, September 2018; the harvest date is the date of the vouchers, 7 December 2021.
Collectors. The collector field keeps the catalogue's two names in the form M. Balant, A. Papamichail. No source read for this page gives either's full name, and none is linked.
Image. GBIF publishes the entries under CC BY-NC 4.0 and lists no media, so there is nothing to upload; the entries are cited.
Taxon. The infobox takes the catalogue's Cannabis sativa L.; no determiner is named.
Source discrepancies
- GBIF's event date for each voucher is 7 December 2021, the date of the vouchers. The seed's collection month, September 2018, is given only in the remarks field.
Sources not yet read
The Barcelona group has published on cannabis grown in a growth chamber from seed of Mongolian accessions: M. Balant, R. Rodríguez González, S. Garcia, T. Garnatje, J. Pellicer, J. Vallès, D. Vitales and O. Hidalgo, Plants 11 (20): 2736 (2022), doi:10.3390/plants11202736, on genome size. Its methods describe chamber cultivation at 25 °C with 18 hours of light, and its figures name Mongolian accessions. Nothing seen of it mentions the herbarium vouchers or the lot names used here, and whether this lot is among its accessions is not established; nothing on this page depends on it.
