Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The label records a flowering cannabis plant gathered in March 1937. Its place was not read, and it gives no use or note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from the Missouri image (2000 × 3000 pixels, through GBIF's image cache).
- Collecting form (printed, simplified characters, filled in by hand): 华南植物研究所 / 采集记录 / 采集人 黄志 采集号 40835 / 采集日期 1937年3月11日 / 采集地点 a place name of three or four characters ending in 山, read once as [two unread]·大石山 and once as 陈/练[?] … 大花/石[?]山 / 性状 草本 / 花白带绿色 / 科名(号) 170 / stamp Huang Zhi.
The South China Institute of Botany took that name in 1954, so the form copies the collecting data from an earlier record.
Georeferencing
No coordinate is asserted, and the province field is empty: the place name was not read, and the label does not name a province.
Editorial treatment
Image. Missouri publishes the image under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0; it is read and cited, not uploaded.
Collector and title. The label's 黄志 and its stamp Huang Zhi give the collector field and the title. The catalogue's C. Wang (Huang Zhi) pairs the name with C. Wang, a collector of the Botanical Institute of Sun Yat-sen University in the 1930s in the Harvard botanist index. Wang (王) and Huang (黄) are different surnames, and no source read equates the two, so the page follows the label.
Taxon. The form gives the family number only; the infobox takes the catalogue's Cannabis L.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue names the collector C. Wang (Huang Zhi); the label names 黄志 (Huang Zhi) only.
