Evidentiary scope

The label reads Prov. Badakshan: between Yawarzan and Qeshm. and Fieldside. Common in the area up to 1.8 m. (at the side of a field, common in the area, up to 1.8 metres tall), at about 1,200 metres, on 5 July 1969. The plant grew at the edge of a field, not in the crop. The label names no use, variety or local name. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a field's edge is not described as waste ground or a weed habitat, and the label does not say whether the plants were sown, escaped or growing wild.

Georeferencing

No coordinate is asserted. The label names a stretch of about 16 kilometres between two settlements, Yavarzan (Wikidata Q8050381) and Keshem (Q6395014), whose SRTM 30-metre elevations are 1,382 and 990 metres. The label's 1,200 metres lies between them, which fits a field along the road but does not pin a point on it. The province field takes Badakhshan Province.

Editorial treatment

The title keeps the label's W prefix to the number. The collector field takes I.C. Hedge, with the initials the catalogue's full name gives (the label prints I. Hedge); the collector number reads Hedge, I.C. & Wendelbo, P. W 9486, leaving out the struck L. Ekberg. The scientific name field takes Rechinger's 1977 redetermination.
