Discussion

Sources

  • Jiang et al. (2021), Vegetation History and Archaeobotany 30: 119–135: the location and coordinates, the discovery in 2011 and the excavation, the layout of the graveyard and of tomb M1, the seal of Liu He, the plant offerings of the grain store with the measurements of the hemp fruits, the radiocarbon dates, and the reading of the grain.

Source discrepancies

  • What is dated. The two radiocarbon dates are of a peach stone from well J3 and of wood from the chariot pit, not of the hemp. The date of 59 BCE is the year of Liu He's death, with which Jiang et al. find the radiocarbon dates and the coins in agreement.
  • Quantity. Jiang et al. report "one pile" of hemp fruits and give their size range, but no count.
  • The excavating institute. The text of the paper names the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics of Jiangxi; the author affiliation of Yang Jun, who directed the excavation, is the Jiangxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. The infobox uses the second.
  • Hemp fabrics. The paper lists "silk and/or hemp fabrics" among the objects recovered and reports no analysis of their fibres. The article quotes the phrase and records no textile find in the infobox.

Georeferencing

The coordinates (29.03, 115.94) are the position Jiang et al. (2021) print. Wikidata (Q22680413) gives 29.0336° N, 115.9429° E for the tomb of the Marquis, and OpenStreetMap's outline of the graveyard (way 1474589479) has its centre at 29.0335° N, 115.9426° E; both lie about 0.5 km from the point, in Xinjian District, Nanchang.
