Evidentiary scope
The catalogue records a clandestine planting in a pine plantation: a crop, gathered after 1965 by the collector's numbering, with no word on who grew it, no local name and no local crop setting. The accession is classified Other, and is listed as a borderline case. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
The point -20.37, 57.50 is the middle of the Mare aux Vacoas reservoir, OpenStreetMap way 22882588, in Plaines Wilhems; its farthest shore is 2.0 km from the middle. The catalogue places the planting in a pine plantation at Mare aux Vacoas, so on land beside the reservoir; the uncertainty allows for that. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 4 km.
Editorial treatment
Date. The catalogue gives no date. In the museum's catalogue Friedmann's number 3311 is dated December 1977 and his number 3364 is dated 11 March 1978; 3347 lies between them. The title takes (by 1978), and no date is stored.
Place. Mare aux Vacoas is a reservoir built in 1885 (English Wikipedia, Mare aux Vacoas); the point is taken from its outline, as a named site.
