Evidentiary scope
The labels place the plants On grassy slopes at Chengtu, one of them outside the city's South Gate, in April 1938. They give no use. The plants grew outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from the Chinese Virtual Herbarium's image of each sheet (PE 00578012, 1,006 × 1,440 pixels; PE 00578013, 1,038 × 1,440 pixels; PE 00761655, 1,057 × 1,440 pixels).

- PE 00761655 (typing faint): 27年4[?]月25日, Datum APR. 25 1938. Pencil tag 1226[9] (the last digit overwritten). Determination slip: Cannabis sativa Linn. / Det. Cao Zi-yu 2004.1. SZECHUAN province stamp; 昇汞 HgCl2; stamped number 0974636.
The readings agree on the printed and typed text where it is clear. On PE 00578012 one reading took the faint year as 25 (1936) or 1930, while noting that its sister sheet reads 27 and 1938; one reading did not read the pencilled 南門外 beyond its first and last characters (南, 外), and one reads the overwritten tag digit as 8 or 9.
Georeferencing
Chengtu is Chengdu (成都), written in characters on the labels, the capital of Sichuan; one sheet adds 南門外, outside the South Gate of the walled city. The point 30.66, 104.06 is Chengdu's place node in OpenStreetMap (node 244077729). The labels give no altitude. The point stands for the city and its southern edge, not the slope where the plants were gathered. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 5 km.
Editorial treatment
Three sheets, one accession. The sheets share the label, the number, the date and the place. The repository and catalogue number are PE 00578012's.
Date. PE 00578013 and PE 00761655 give year 27 of the Republic and 1938, and PE 00578012's Latin date gives 1938; 25 April 1938 is stored.
Collector. The collector field keeps the label's W. P. Fang, as on Fang 3525 (1928); the prose links Fang Wen-p'ei.
Determination. The identified-by field takes the latest named determiner, Cao Ziyu (2004). The slip dated 72年 gives no era, so its date is not converted.
Image. The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its images under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, so the page cites each sheet's image and shows none.
