Limits of the article as a source

The article contains no chemical analysis of Indonesian cannabis, so it does not support statements about the constituents of Sumatran or Javanese material. Its Bantam sentence says only that Indian hemp appears (schijnt) to have been brought into Europe from Bantam in the 17th century; it does not call this the earliest export of cannabis from the archipelago or describe its scale. Of its three statements about the archipelago, the one on a former cultivation around Batavia is repeated in Boorsma's 1918 survey.
