Discussion
Evidentiary scope
This is a fibre sample, not a plant gathering. Kew's catalogue names its collector and the year it was entered, 2012, and no collection date. Kew's remark on GBIF places the hemp near Duyun and records its local uses there: soles of shoes, warp threads mixed with cotton, and no longer whole cloth. It does not say how or by whom the hemp was grown, and the collection date is not known, so the accession is classified Other; no conservation priority is assigned. The object is prepared fibre, so it documents a processing step as well as a plant.
Georeferencing
The only place is Kew's remark on GBIF, nr. Duyun (near Duyun). Duyun is a county-level city of Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou; the name covers both the city and the municipality around it, and near does not say how near. The point 26.19, 107.45 is the middle of the municipality's administrative area in OpenStreetMap (relation 2777416), and reverse geocoding it returns Duyun. The city centre, OpenStreetMap node 4571256573, lies about 10 km to the north-east. The municipality covers about 2,285 km² (Wikidata Q1207027). It is an area point for the municipality, not the place the hemp was grown. Basis: district point. Uncertainty: about 27 km.
Editorial treatment
The entry book number is not a collection date. Kew's help page defines an Entry Book Number as a number assigned to each group of specimens at the point of acquisition. This object's number, 1.2012, dates its arrival at Kew. The collection date field is blank, and the accession carries no date; the fibre was collected no later than 2012, the limit the title gives.
Collector. The collector field gives J. Balfour-Paul, Kew's Balfour-Paul J in initials form. Kew enters the same name as donor.
The remark is on GBIF only. Kew's own catalogue page leaves the geography and notes blank; the place and the uses come from the eventRemarks of Kew's dataset on GBIF, published by Kew.
Collection method. The field gives Herbarium specimen, the value for a preserved specimen, as on the other Kew fibre accessions; GBIF publishes the object as a preserved specimen. It is a fibre sample, not a pressed sheet.
Image. Kew publishes two photographs of the object through GBIF under CC BY 4.0: the fibre alone, used here, and the fibre beside its labelled box.
