Discussion
Evidentiary scope
This is an object rather than a field gathering: Kew's catalogue names an exhibition as donor, a donor number and an entry number, and no collector, no collection date and no place finer than Korea. It documents hemp fibre from Korea that had reached Kew by 1910. The object is prepared fibre, so it documents a processing step as well as a plant. The catalogue gives no habitat and no note on cultivation, so the accession is classified Other; no conservation priority is assigned.
Kew publishes no image of this object, and GBIF carries none.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The geography line names only Korea and nothing within it, so the locality field is empty.
Editorial treatment
The entry book number is not a collection date. Kew's help page defines an Entry Book Number as a number assigned to each group of specimens at the point of acquisition, running in a series each year. This object's number, 146.1910, dates its arrival at Kew. The donor date, 00/00/1910, gives the year alone and agrees with it. The collection date field is blank, and the accession carries no date; the fibre was gathered no later than 1910, the limit the title gives.
Country. Kew leaves the country and region undefined; its geography line reads Korea. The country field gives Korea, the wiki's value for the peninsula when a source names no state.
The donor is an exhibition. Kew's donor field reads Japan British Exhib. The catalogue does not say who showed the fibre at the exhibition, or where in Korea it was grown. The collector field is empty, because Kew's help page uses the donor field for specimens that passed through a second person or institution.
The donor number. The donor number field reads 34. What series it belongs to is not recorded; it is given in the article only.
A separate entry. The five samples from Japan given by the same exhibition share the entry number 145.1910; this fibre has its own, 146.1910. The catalogue does not say why.
Collection method. The field gives Herbarium specimen, the value for a preserved specimen, as on the other Kew fibre accessions; GBIF publishes the object as a preserved specimen. It is a sample of material, not a pressed sheet.
