Identifier
The accession identifier is EAG-UGA-CEN-0120230001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.
- Holder segment
EAGstands for East Africa Genes. - Year 2023 is the year of the first dated document that lists the line: the seller's Overgrow advert of 3 December 2023, the earliest dated document naming the line (it is not in any archived capture of the catalogue, the last of which is of 4 June 2023). No source gives a collection year, so the identifier takes the first attested year. It is a lower bound, not a collection date, and the collection date field is empty.
- Month 01 is the placeholder used when the year comes from first attestation.
- Province segment. The seller names Entebbe. The town lies in Uganda's Central Region, so the province field is Central Region and the segment is
CEN. The field is written "Central Region (Uganda)" because the wiki already uses "Central Region" for Malawi's region of that name, and the infobox reads a comma as a list separator. - Sequence
0001. The only Central Region line.
Sourcing
The catalogue page Pure African Strains (https://eastafricagenes.blog/pure-african-strains/) was read as it stood on 8 October 2026 and in twelve archived captures from 7 August 2020 to 4 June 2023 (https://web.archive.org/web/*/eastafricagenes.blog/pure-african-strains/). No capture between June 2023 and the current page could be read. The line is on the current page but not in any capture. The seller's Overgrow advert of 3 December 2023 (https://overgrow.com/t/pressure-sativa-from-central-uganda/130883/1) was read from a saved copy. A member replied the same day that the line could not be found on the seller's site (post 3 of that topic).
No collector, farmer, collection site or collection date is named.
Typing
- Classification: Landrace. The seller says that the line is grown around Entebbe by the Baganda. The seller also says that it collects its seed on road trips in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (see East Africa Genes). That ties the line to local growers. The accession is classified Landrace, by inference from the seller's account, which names no grower, collection site or date. The account has not been checked against other sources. An earlier version of this note classified the line as Other, on the ground that a seller's account does not establish the class of the source population.
- Sourcing type: Unknown provenance. No source gives a chain of custody from a growing population to the seed on sale.
- Accession type is left empty: the sources do not say whether the seed on sale was gathered from growers or reproduced from earlier seed.
- Traits. The flavours and effects in the article are the seller's words. The catalogue's "Vegetation & Flowering" figure counts vegetative growth and flowering together, so it is reported in the article and not entered as a flowering time.
Georeferencing
The point 0.06, 32.47 is the town of Entebbe, OpenStreetMap node 2099387574 (place=city), in Entebbe City, Central Region. It reverse-geocodes to Entebbe City, Central Region, Uganda. The seller says the line is grown "around" Entebbe. OpenStreetMap's Entebbe City boundary (relation 14723820, about 1,460 km²) takes in a large part of Lake Victoria, so the extent is taken from mapped buildings instead: the built-up area (at least about three buildings a hectare) runs on without a break for at least 10 km from the point. Ten villages also named Entebbe lie far to the north; the seller's lakeside town is this one. It places the line at the town, not at a farm. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 11 km.
Conservation priority
Not rated. The sources give nothing about the size or status of the source population.
