Discussion
Why Doi Suthep–Pui is a growing area
- Tipparat and colleagues (2014) describe the cultivar DP as "grown in landrace at Doi Pui", at 1,685 m.
- Denes and Boonyasurat (2023) describe hemp planting and harvesting as part of Doi Pui's cloth-making, from a survey of June 2020.
- Maxwell 88-1359 (1988), from the Sisangwan valley on the south-west side of Doi Suthep, records a plant cultivated for smoking (GBIF record read).
- The status is Active: the 2009 trial seed and the 2020 survey record growing since 2000.
Extent and border
- The border is Doi Suthep–Pui National Park (OpenStreetMap), less the parts of the park that lie in Mae Rim and Mae Taeng districts, which belong to Mae Rim and Mae Taeng. It covers about 110 km² and holds Doi Pui village and the summits.
- The stored point of Maxwell 88-1359 (18.72, 98.90, two decimals) falls just outside this border, so the sheet is not filed under the area; its locality, the Sisangwan valley of Doi Suthep, is given in the article.
