The full name and birth year follow the Library of Congress name authority record n82029567. The 1968 programme follows Anthony Haden-Guest in High Times, November 1976, and the university's programme history (Wayback Machine copy of January 2026). His death follows the university's news release of 27 April 1998, of which only the opening sentence could be read. Discuss conflicts and corrections here.

Full name

The Library of Congress record Waller, Coy Webster, 1914- was established from the title page of Marihuana, an annotated bibliography (Coy W. Waller) and from his 1945 study of Larrea divaricata. The bibliography's title page ties the record to the Mississippi Waller.

Date of death

The university's release is dated 27 April 1998, a Monday, and says he died Friday night at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. That would be 24 April 1998, but the release does not give the date, so the article gives April 1998. The full release is a PDF that could not be opened.

Birth, education and early career

Web profiles found through a search give a birth date and birthplace, his degrees and his employers in industry. None of them could be opened, so none of it is used. Haden-Guest's figure of 24 years in industry and his statement that the sequential birth-control pill was developed under Waller's direction are given in the article as his.

Director of the research institute

The university's programme history has him join in 1968 as associate director of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and become director in 1970. Haden-Guest (1976) calls him a director of the institute. The university's 2018 release calls him a former director of the institute; it does not give years.

The laboratory complex

The programme history says the Coy Waller Laboratory Complex was built in 1989. When it was named for him has not been found.
