Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The catalogue gives a collector, a number and a day, and no place, habitat, use or note on cultivation. The accession is classified Unknown. It does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

No point is given, and no place below the country. The catalogue gives the country only. Clarke's number 7532, gathered the day before, is labelled Furidpore Station, the town of Faridpur (OpenStreetMap node 1472130095, Dhaka Division); a plant gathered the next day may come from another place, so the page asserts the country and nothing finer.

Editorial treatment

Country. The Smithsonian's catalogue gives India, the country of the sheet's time. The neighbouring gathering places Clarke at Faridpur, in today's Bangladesh, the day before, and the page follows that place, as Clarke 21810 (1874) follows McPartland and Small's Jessore. If the label is ever published and names another place, the country changes with it.

Image. The Smithsonian publishes no image of the sheet. The page's values are its catalogue's.

Source discrepancies

  • The Smithsonian's catalogue and GBIF give the country as India; the page places the sheet in Bangladesh from Clarke's gathering of the day before.

These notes were recorded during accession preparation. Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 00:48, 29 October 2026 (+07)
