Evidentiary scope

The label places a cannabis plant in the foothills of the Ketmen-Tyube basin in May 1960. It gives no use and no note on cultivation. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.

Label reading

Read twice, independently, from the holder's image (3592 × 5190 pixels). The page states only what the readings agree, except where noted.

• Readings that differ. The collector's name was read Ботбаева and Байбаева (uncertain, with Бойбаева as an alternative); the catalogue gives M. Botbaeva, and the page takes the catalogue's form.
• A pencilled 1973 in the lower right corner, in the hand seen on nearly every sheet of this series in the herbarium, says nothing about its purpose and is not used.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The label names the Ketmen-Tyube basin, its foothills and the valley part of the raion, and no settlement. The English Wikipedia gives the valley floor as about 50 by 22 km and says that it was flooded by the Toktogul dam's reservoir, after this gathering; the town of Ketmen-Töbö (OpenStreetMap relation 19848479) lies at its eastern end and is not the label's place. The spot within the basin is unresolved, and a point at the basin's middle would fall on the reservoir, which did not exist in 1960, so no area point is given either. The basin lies in the Jalal-Abad Region, which the province field takes. Basis: none (named area, unresolved). Uncertainty: the basin, about 25 km.
