Border

The appellation's border is the part of the municipality of Becerril (OpenStreetMap relation 2721167; DIVIPOLA code 20045) that lies inside the border of the Serranía del Perijá growing area (the ground at or above 200 metres on the range): about 569 km², 46% of the municipality's 1,231 km²; the rest lies below 200 metres, outside the growing area. The municipal border is today's. The point in the infobox is a point inside the border, not a field.

Sources

  • The 1977 seizure: Rada Verdecia (2018), p. 98, quotes a Diario del Norte report by Ortega; the report is taken to be the one his bibliography lists, by its title: Ortega, "10 hectáreas de marihuana son incautadas por el F-2", Diario del Norte, 9 July 1977, p. 8. The report names the vereda "San Jenaro", in the "corregimiento de Becerril, municipio de Codazzi". OpenStreetMap has a school named "San Genaro" in the municipality of Becerril, at about 9.740, −73.100, inside this border; that the two names are one place is an identification by spelling, not a statement of the source.
  • The status is Active: the Ministry of Defence's eradication dataset lists, for Becerril with crop type marihuana, 2 rows, 17 July 2014 and 19 January 2020, 3.64 hectares in all (downloaded 20 October 2026). The dataset gives the municipality only, not whether the crop stood on the range or on the valley floor.
  • Mongabay (2019) gives the Yukpa reserves by municipality, not their position within it.
