Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The label places the plant окр. с. В. Двин, на сухом каменистом склоне (near the village of V. Dvin, on a dry stony slope), in the Artashat raion, on 9 June 1961. It gives no use and no note on cultivation. The plant grew outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from GBIF's cached copy of the garden's 1,600-pixel image (1600 × 2634 pixels). The page states only what the readings agree, except where noted.
- Printed. Ботанический Институт Академии наук АрмССР / HERBARIUM nomine V. L. KOMAROVI / Instituti Botanici Academiae Scientiarum / Armeniae / № (blank) / Армянская ССР / Leg. / 1961 / Det.
- By hand. Cannabis ruderalis + an abbreviated author / Арташатский район, / Окр. с. В. Двин, на сухом каме- / нистом склоне. / В. Аветисян, Э. Габриелян, / А. Погосян. / 9. VI / Мулкиджанян with an initial.
- Pencil (top right). 153.
- Readings that differ. The author's abbreviation was read Jacн and Jan; the infobox gives the name with its standard author, Janisch., which the catalogue also gives. The determiner's initial was read Я. and Я. or Э.; the page gives the surname only.
Georeferencing
The point 40.02, 44.59 is the village of Verin Dvin, OpenStreetMap way 602967070, in the Ararat Province, at 958 m by SRTM (950 m in the Russian Wikipedia). The label writes с. В. Двин, the village of V. Dvin; Verin (Upper) Dvin is the village whose name fits the initial. The village of Dvin lies 1.1 km away and the ruins of ancient Dvin 2.6 km, so the reading of the initial moves the point by less than the uncertainty. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 3 km.
Editorial treatment
Image. The garden's image server refused the connection when this page was prepared; the image is GBIF's cached copy of the garden's own 1,600-pixel derivative, released, like the catalogue data, under CC0.
Collectors. The collector field takes the three names on the label, transliterated; the catalogue gives none. The determiner field takes the surname, Mulkidzhanyan, without the initial the readings do not agree on. None is linked.
Taxon. The infobox takes the label's and the catalogue's Cannabis ruderalis Janisch.
Place. В. Двин is expanded to Verin Dvin, the village whose name fits the initial; the label gives only the initial.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue gives no collector; the label names three.
