How the volume was read

The volume was read on 3 and 4 October 2026 in a digitised copy, on the page images and the scan's high-resolution text layer. Its OCR text layer reads some 5s as 6s: dates it gives as "31st March, 1936" and "16th January, 1936" read 1935 on the images.

Dating

The imprint year on the title page is faintly printed and is read as 1935. The forwarding letter to the Regent is dated in July, but the year in its date line is not legible in the scan, so the infobox gives no composition date. The year of report ended on 31 March 1935.

Readings that need care

The report writes "Gunja" in its first chapter and in the excise chapter's paragraph on the drug. The chapter's summary of revenue writes "Ganja". Quotations keep the spelling of the passage quoted.

What the page leaves out

The excise chapter's figures for country spirit, imported liquor and opium are given only where they frame the ganja figures. The volume's other chapters are not summarised.
