Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The catalogue records the plant as Cultivada (cultivated) at Malanje, in 1903: a crop at a named settlement. Drug-type cannabis from different regions began to be cross-bred, and its seed carried into old growing areas, in the 1970s (McPartland and Small 2020, pp. 84–85), so a hybrid origin is not considered for a sheet gathered in 1903. The accession is classified Landrace, by inference from the catalogue's transcription of the label. The sheet does not show what became of the crop or whether its seed survives, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
The point -9.55, 16.35 is the city of Malanje, OpenStreetMap node 279010432. The herbarium publishes the point -9.546, 16.347 for the sheet, 0.3 km from the node: a look-up of the city, carried here as the city it is. The catalogue names Malanje and nothing within it. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 10 km.
Editorial treatment
Two sheets. The catalogue gives the second sheet, LISC055472, the same collector and no place or date; the page lists it as a second sheet of the collector's Malanje material, not as a proven duplicate of the 1903 gathering.
Holder. The infobox gives the herbarium as GBIF's data names it, the Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical, with its herbarium code LISC.
Image. No image of the sheet was read for this page; its values are the holder's catalogue's. The herbarium publishes no image, and its catalogue data are licensed CC BY-NC 4.0: the page cites them and copies nothing but the catalogue's facts and short quotations.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue's structured locality reads Desconhecido (unknown) while its verbatim locality reads Malange (Cultivada) and its province Malanje. The page follows the verbatim text.
