Surveys the documented uses of Cannabis in Arabic medical manuscripts and treatises from the ninth to the sixteenth century. The authors record applications across endocrine, nervous, respiratory, digestive and dermatological complaints, drawn from seeds, leaves, roots and inflorescences. These uses are set against the cultural and religious framing of the plant in the period. The record extends historical coverage into the Arabic pharmacopoeia, a tradition not otherwise represented in this corpus.
