The Cannabis Spread throughout the Continents and its Therapeutic Use in History
Endocrine, Metabolic and Immune Disorders - Drug Targets · 2021
A review of the historical record for cannabis as a therapeutic agent, following the plant from the earliest societies of the Far East through its later introduction to the western world, and closing on the twentieth-century prohibition and the research that followed the identification of the endocannabinoid system. The authors draw on translations of ancient Greek and Chinese manuscripts alongside the historical and medical literature, working from the National Library of Greece and the University of Athens. A general survey rather than a regional study, so it belongs in the corpus as background on the diffusion narrative rather than as a source on any particular landrace.
