DCEA reports seizing 11,504.76 kg of cannabis in 14 regions between July and September

The Respondent reported that Tanzania's Drug Control and Enforcement Authority said on 29 September 2026 that operations in 14 regions between July and September had seized 11,504.76 kg of cannabis and 44.45 kg of skunk cannabis, along with 6,529.5 kg of khat and a small quantity of heroin. According to Commissioner General Aretas Lyimo, most of the cannabis came from Morogoro, at 6,299.24 kg, and Tabora, at 4,650.86 kg, where cannabis seeds were also seized. The authority reported 289 arrests, of whom 169 had been charged in court.
