Police find two abandoned bags holding 60 packets of kush cannabis at Bandaranaike International Airport
Ada Derana reported that officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau airport unit found kush cannabis packed in 60 airtight packets inside two bags left near baggage belt 6 at Bandaranaike International Airport on the morning of 15 September 2026. Police suspected that a passenger who had arrived the previous day on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 405 from Bangkok abandoned the bags and left, and were reviewing CCTV footage. The consignment was estimated to be worth about 320 million rupees. No weight was given and no arrest was reported, and the drugs were to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court.
