Military units find 23 underground marijuana caches in Paso Bravo National Park

ABC Color reported that special forces of Paraguay's Comando de Operaciones de Defensa Interna, guided by the army's Batallón de Inteligencia Militar, found five underground marijuana caches in Paso Bravo National Park, San Carlos del Apa district, on the evening of 11 September 2026, and 23 caches in total by 12 September. The caches lay near a disused clandestine airstrip in the reserve. Removal of the packages began on 13 September, and the Concepción anti-drug prosecutor Pablo René Zárate ordered the whole cargo taken to the command's base, where weighing was expected to start on 16 September. No weighed quantity had been published at the time of reporting; La Nación put the haul at about 40,000 kg before the weighing. No arrests were reported.
