Customs report 7,624 kg of cannabis in three containers examined at Apapa Port

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, told journalists at the Apapa Area Command in Lagos that twelve containers intercepted at the APM Terminals examination bay at Apapa Port carried a combined duty-paid value of 43,588,618,859 naira. Three of the containers held 15,245 parcels of cannabis weighing 7,624 kilograms, concealed among vehicles, spare parts and food products, while a fourth held 169,998 bottles of codeine syrup and another carried 108 drones. He said the seized narcotics would be handed to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the pharmaceutical products to NAFDAC. The Service gave no period for the operations and no dates or origins for the individual containers, and outlets differ over whether the briefing was held on 9 or 10 September 2026.
