Guyana police destroy about 53,000 cannabis plants on two farms at Yaruni Bend near Linden
iNews Guyana published a Guyana Police Force statement reporting that police, led by a gazetted officer, carried out a cannabis eradication exercise at Yaruni Bend, Linden, in the Upper Demerara River area on 10 September 2026. According to the statement, they found two farms covering a combined eight acres with about 53,000 suspected cannabis plants, as well as two makeshift camps and two drying areas holding a combined 10 pounds of dried cannabis, and destroyed all of it by fire. The police estimated the value of what was destroyed at $22,038,728. No arrests were made.
