Police seize 1,240.6 kg of cannabis from a truck in Dhankuta

The Himalayan Times reported that a joint team of Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force seized 1,240.6 kg of cannabis from a truck in ward 7 of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality in Dhankuta district. According to police the truck was stopped for inspection at about 11 pm on 8 September 2026 on the Koshi Highway as it travelled from Dhankuta towards Bhedetar, and the driver jumped from the vehicle and fled. Nepali language reporting by Onlinekhabar adds that the cannabis was concealed in white plastic sacks under a false floor at the rear of the truck. Police said a search for the driver was under way, and no arrests were made.
