Police seize 162.794 kg of cannabis from a car at Manahari in Makwanpur

The Himalayan Times reported that a patrol from the Area Police Office at Manahari stopped a car and an accompanying pickup truck at about 2.45 am on Monday 7 September 2026 on an inner road at Bhavar in Manahari Rural Municipality ward 9 in Makwanpur district, acting on a tip-off about suspected drug trafficking. According to the district police spokesperson, DSP Madhav Kafle, a search of the car found 13 plastic-wrapped packets of cannabis weighing 162.794 kg concealed inside its seats. Police arrested the drivers of both vehicles, aged 56 and 48 and both from Chitwan district, after they tried to flee, and said preliminary questioning indicated the pickup had been escorting the consignment. The suspects, the two vehicles and the cannabis were taken to the Area Police Office at Manahari.
