STF arrests a man transporting over 2 kg of Kush cannabis at Hokandara
Ada Derana reported that the Police Special Task Force arrested a man in a car in the Wanaguru Mawatha area of Hokandara while he was allegedly transporting more than 2 kilograms of what it described as the narcotics substance Kush cannabis, in a raid conducted on information received. The report describes the suspect as a 32-year-old resident of Kalalgoda, and gives no laboratory characterisation of the material. Newswire, reporting the same arrest, places it on 30 August 2026, attributes it to the Special Operations Unit III of the Special Task Force, puts the raid in front of a filling station within the Malabe police division and adds that 39,290 rupees in cash was recovered. Newswire describes the material only as narcotics and gives the suspect's home as Pannipitiya rather than Kalalgoda.
