Syria reports seizing 138 kg of cannabis and 382,000 pills in the eastern countryside of Suwayda

The Syrian Arab News Agency reported on Saturday 29 August 2026 that the Ministry of the Interior's directorate for combating narcotics had announced, on its Telegram channel, that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a consignment of narcotics internationally, following a security operation in the eastern countryside of As-Suwayda governorate. According to the directorate the operation seized and confiscated 138 kg of cannabis and 382,000 narcotic pills that had been in the possession of groups it described as outside the law. The directorate said investigations and follow-up work were continuing in order to identify those involved and place them before the courts.
