Sonamura Police destroys 2.87 lakh ganja plants on 11 plots at Bathadola, Bijoy Nagar

On Wednesday 30 July 2025, a Sonamura Police Station-led joint operation with the Border Security Force destroyed approximately 287,000 cannabis plants across 11 Forest Department plots at Bathadola and Bijoy Nagar in Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. The operation was led by Sonamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das. No arrests were made as no individual claimed ownership of the plantations. An investigation to identify the cultivators on the encroached Forest Department land was reported as ongoing.
