Two farmers detained over 767 marijuana plants in Sesan district, Stung Treng

Stung Treng provincial anti-drug bureau and Sesan district police raided two cannabis cultivation sites in Nheun village, Sdao commune, after a tip-off via the NoDrug app. At the first location, 255 plants were destroyed and a man and woman were arrested. At the second location, 512 plants were destroyed but owners escaped. The Stung Treng Provincial Court charged the two suspects with illegal cultivation under Article 38 of the Law on Drug Control, placing them in pre-trial detention. They face six months to two years imprisonment and fines of 1–4 million riel ($245–$975). NACD Secretary General Meas Vyrith reported 5,656 drug cases and 13,955 arrests in H1 2024, with over 5 tonnes of drugs seized.
